Sergeant Peter McCarthy joined the ATC in 1995 and rose through the ranks to Cadet Sergeant. Then in 2001 he joined the Royal Air Force as a logistical supplier. After his basic and trade training he was posted to RAF Coltishall where he stayed until 2007 and was on the team that shut down the unit. In 2007 he was posted to RAF Odiham where he took up is new role of mobility supply. Throughout his busy career he has served in Iraq 3 times, Afghanistan, Norway, Oman and many more.
All through Sergeant McCarthy's career he has worked with the air cadets first at Caster Squadron, then Thame Squadron and finally the Burghfield Squadron. He brings a huge amount of experience to the Squadron, instructing in Weapons, Field Craft and Airmanship 2. He is also the Squadrons Supply Officer and Squadron Shooting Officer. To add another feather to his hat Sergeant McCarthy is a main player on the Air Cadet Liaison Team at RAF Odiham.
Sergeant McCarthy has just completed his first triathlon and has more on the cards. He is a keen snowboarder and likes nothing more than hitting the slopes. He enjoys his roles at the wings TLC's and enjoys everything he does with the air cadets.
